Spelling
Building upon the foundations built in Key Stage One using Sounds-Write, we at Coxheath continue this approach into Key Stage Two, allowing children ample time to revisit and build upon the spelling patterns previous taught. By focusing on spelling patterns, we create mental representations of the spellings of sounds in words. As part of their spelling diet, children are taught how to effectively break words down into manageable chunks so they have the means to spell challenging words and they will take part in regular practise of new and preceding words to allow for rehearsal and retrieval of their learning.
