All those who come into contact with children through their everyday work whether paid or voluntary have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

In line with statutory guidelines, we do have procedures in school to ensure the safety of our pupils and we ask that you also adhere to these.

If you have offered to volunteer in school you will receive safeguarding training before you come into school to work with children.  The slides which accompany the Volunteer Safeguarding Training sessions can be found HERE

In addition, we will also ask you to read the two documents situated in the Forms link below. Once you have read the two documents we will be notified automatically that this has been completed.

On Arrival

You will be asked to sign in using InVentry, our electronic sign in/out system.

If we have evidence of a DBS check for you, you will be issued with a green lanyard, which you must wear at all times whilst in school.

If you do not have your DBS certificate you will be issued with a red lanyard. If you are wearing a red lanyard, you will be supervised at all times during your visit by a member of school staff.

When you leave school, please remember to sign out so that we know that you're no longer in the building. You must return your lanyard to the office staff and exit via the main doors.

In the interest of safeguarding, we ask you to ensure to adhere to the following instructions:

• Please store mobile phones in your bag and have them off or on silent.
• If you do need to make or receive an urgent call, we ask that you do not use in the presence or sight of children or in the school corridors.
• Do not take pictures, videos or sound recordings of any pupils.
• If you are working with a child, please do so in a space that is open, have an open door or be visible by others through a window.
• If you have a concern about a child please pass this on to the child’s class teacher, who will then follow our safeguarding procedures. If they are not available, please speak to one of the schools our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) whose names can be found on the Volunteer Safeguarding Agreement.
• If you have a concern about another adult in school, please ask to speak to the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.
• Always share concerns with school staff, no matter how small they may appear, and don’t keep them to yourself
• If a child says something to you that you think could be a safeguarding concern, act as above, and if possible write down what was said immediately. Listen to the child, do not question them or promise them that it will remain confidential between the two of you.
